The PAWR Project Office will host a Panel to introduce the winners of the Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR) program’s first award selection process. The panel will also feature discussion of the recently announced Request for Information in preparation of the Round 2 Request for Proposals (RFP).

The first two research platforms, to be based in Salt Lake City and New York City, will be developed and deployed thanks to support and funding from National Science Foundation and our Industry Consortium partners.

These PAWR platforms are community-focused testbeds and will be open to the entire research community, which includes you. They will power research in dynamic spectrum, millimeter-waves, MIMO, dynamic optical networking technologies, all motivated by real-world challenges on experimental, next generation wireless testbeds at the scale of cities and communities. The goal is to advance the state of the art for wireless technology beyond today's 4G, LTE and emerging 5G capabilities. The PAWR platforms will enable early-stage research that will push forward robust, new wireless devices, techniques, protocols and services.

The POWDERRENEW platform will reach 40,000 potential users in the Salt Lake City area.

The COSMOS platform will explore ultra-high bandwidth, low-latency wireless capabilities and stimulate innovation in the West Harlem area of New York City.
